Why play Saxon Youth Football?

Saxon Youth Football will continue to embrace the USA Football Developmental Model. We are excited to offer the very best youth football organization that we can. All of us, coaches, parents and players will benefit from our kids learning to play the game the right way and develop age appropriate skills along the way. We integrate skill development with the Saxon High School football programs terminology and playbook. We believe we should be at the top of the list when looking at football options in the South Salem Feeder area.  We are focused on keeping our program affordable for all.  Cost to play $175.00.  If your player is on free and reduced lunch the cost is $75.00.  We will work with families. Money should not be a reason that someone doesn’t play for us!

Flag Football Ages K-2

• We will play within our own teams on Saturday Mornings at SSHS only No Travel!
• We will have all our flag kids in soft helmets designed for football
• Offer parents a roadmap of skills and development flag through 8th grade
• Completion of Stage 1/2 using the USA Football Player Progression Guide by the end of 2nd grade if you play with us for all three years
• All coaches are background checked and trained to teach to the USA Football Progression Guide
• Character Development Emphasis as part of our program
• The focus will be on development and fun!

3-4 Rookie Tackle- Serves a bridge game between flag football and full field tackle and is part of the football development model. Blocking Tackling, passing, running in a modified game.  Altered rules, shrinking the field, lessening the number of players, coaches in the huddle players learn the game at a pace more suited for them.

• Introduce proper tackling fundamentals and skills
• Focus on the safety of the game
• 14 players per roster max (if numbers allow)
• Minimum Travel
• Rotating positions on both offense and defense
• No three-point stance
• No score is kept
• Focus on fun and development
• Coaches training and skill development by the high school coaching staff
• All coaches are background checked and Certified in USA Heads Up Training
• Completion of Stage 3 using the USA Football Player Progression Guide
• Introduction of SSHS Football playbook, terminology and coaching technique
• Access to free camps with high school coaches and players and college coaches and players
• Access to all home high school football games with Saxon Youth Football Jersey

5-6 11 Man Modified Tackle Football – A player’s athletic journey eventually brings him or her to a version of the sport resembling what is played at the high school level and up. 

• 20-25 player rosters are optimal
• Focus on equal playing time for our players
• Focus on development and fun
• No Special teams (kick offs or punts)
• Weight limits on ball carriers (QB, all receivers, running backs)
• Continued Focus on safety of the game and proper tacking techniques
• Coaches training and skill development by the high school coaching staff
• All coaches are background checked and Certified in USA Heads Up Training
• Completion of Stage 3 begin into Stage 4 using the USA Football Player Progression Guide
• Continuation of SSHS Football playbook, terminology and coaching technique
• Access to free camps with high school coaches and players and college coaches and players
• Access to all home high school football games with Saxon Youth Football Jersey
• Competitive schedule to better serve our players as they grow and develop

7th and 8th Grade 11 Man Tackle Football- A continuation of 11-man football with a more advanced playbook and competitive schedule

• 25-28 player roster are optimal
• Focus on player development
• Work on more advanced tackling
• Continued focus on safety and playing the game the right way
• Have FUN!
• Weight limit on ball carriers (QB, all receivers, running backs)
• Coaches training and skill development by the high school coaching staff
• All coaches are background checks and USA Heads Up Certified
• Stage 4 using the USA Football Progression Guide
• More complex plays and terminology using SSHS Football programs playbook
• Access to free camps with high school coaches, players along with college coaches and players
• Access to all home high school football games with Saxon Youth Football Jersey
• Competitive schedule that will prepare you for who you will play in high school non-league games and potential playoff teams
• Heavy emphasis on position play using same teaching and terminology as the high school program
• 8th graders will have a signing day as they move to South Salem High School Football Program
